This pleasant 43-year-old woman lost 50 to 60 lb by changing her lifestyles. This left her with a lot of loose sagging skin on her trunk, breasts, and face.
Before surgery you could pinch 5 cm of fat above and below the umbilicus. She wore a size 16 pants.
Her breast size was a 38C. She wanted to stay the same size, but wanted a lift procedure performed.
She had a lot of laxity with excess of skin and fat on the lower part of the trunk. The loose skin extended into the hip and flank areas.
To get the best result, I recommended liposuction around the entire trunk followed by a lifting procedure called a lower body lift. In addition, I recommended a breast lift procedure. She elected to have these procedures performed as two operations six weeks apart rather than one longer operation.
The first operation was performed in February 2006. At that time, she underwent liposuction of the upper buttock, hips, flank areas, and the upper back including the area under her arms. Liposuction was performed of the neck as well. At the same time, she underwent removal of the loose skin and fat in the hip and flank areas along with the breast lift procedure. The procedure was done under general anesthesia and took about six and a half hours. Approximately one week later, she underwent additional liposuction of the abdomen followed by abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). A total of 2400 mL of fat was aspirated. The amount of tissue removed from the abdomen was 6.6 lb. For this second procedure, she stayed overnight and went home the following day. Postoperatively she did very well. A pain pump was used with the tummy tuck, allowing her to move more freely without discomfort. After one week, she was placed in a compression garment. Her photographs seven weeks after the last procedure show a tremendous improvement in her contour. She is very pleased with the outcome. She lost an additional 20 lb after the surgery. She is happy with the size and the shape of the breast. You can also notice the improvement in the contour of her neck.
