St. Louis Plastic Surgeon Timothy Jones Sees More Patients Wanting Body Contouring Procedure after Massive Weight Loss

November 20, 2006 (ST. LOUIS) – Liposuction is at the top of the list of most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed in 2005, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Tummy tuck was number five on the list, showing a 12 percent increase in procedures from 2004.

"These figures reflect what I see in my practice," said St. Louis board-certified plastic surgeon Timothy Jones, MD. "Liposuction and tummy tucks are definitely a popular procedure for people who want to sculpt their body, especially after significant weight loss."

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says that 68,000 body contouring procedures were performed last year, up 22 percent from 2004. Body contouring also includes upper arm lifts and thigh lifts, which showed an increase of 16 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
