Breast Augmentation Grows in Popularity

November 20, 2006 (ST. LOUIS) – More than 360,000 breast augmentation procedures were undertaken in 2005, a 9 percent increase over the previous year, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
"I'm seeing more and more women choosing breast enhancement as a way to boost self-esteem and confidence," says St. Louis board-certified plastic surgeon Timothy Jones, MD.
"It's often not a matter of simply increasing bust size," said Jones, "but many women find that after childbirth or losing a great deal of weight, they've lost volume and shape in their breasts. This procedure is a way to help restore firmness and re-establish a woman's proportional figure."
